Let’s say you start a discussion in the Chatter tab and it has a good discussion going. You can take those comments and embed them on your blog and the comments will update in real time. It’s pretty easy. Here’s how:

Once a conversation has started you’ll see the small “embed” icon on the top right.

Click on that and you get this:

Insert the code into your blog’s post and that’s it. Every time someone adds a comments, the comment box will be updated.

We’ve added  real-time commenting that continuously updates comments without you having to reload the page . You can now have a real-time  conversations with other users to discuss the story.

You can also Retweet Blogged stories (just click the green tweet button):

You’ll also be able to chat with your Blogged friends and discuss the story in a separate chat box (click Live Chat).  You can chat with one or multiple Blogged friends and get a more in-depth discussion going on the top stories of the day.

If your a blogged author, you can now embed the Blogged comments on your blog. Just click on “embed” and you will be given the code to place on your blog. The comments update in real-time as well.

It’s also great if you want to find a story you commented on a while back to either delete it or add another comment.

Of course if you don’t want all this displayed, you can always make your profile private.  So, don’t forget to update the About Me section and tell other Blogged users a bit about yourself.

Sometimes, that can be a little tricky to find for new bloggers. Here are instructions on where to put the code in Wordpress, Blogspot and Typad blogs.

Wordpress Blogs:

Log in and in your Dashboard scroll down to Appearance and click Widgets:

Look for the Text: Arbitrary text or HTML:

Drag that bar to the right and drop it under the Side Bar and a pop up will show up:

Insert the code in the box, click Save then Close.  The widget will appear on your blog’s side bar. Go back to Blogged and click on Verify.  All done.

However, we do have some rules that we would like you to follow.

When commenting …. Don’t:

• Don’t post irrelevant links. Don’t use the comments thread to advertise your blog, or any blog.
• Don’t add off topic comments. Stick to what is being discussed in the thread.
• Don’t promote yourself. Comments such as “Hi, follow me” are off topic and will be deleted.

• Don’t use excessive profanity. Yes, sometimes you get mad, but don’t drop the F-word, M-word, the S-word just because you’re upset at the story or someone’s opinion.
• DON’T USE ALL CAPS! It’s not not only considered shouting, but it’s rude, annoying and hard to read.
• Don’t harass other users. Any comments that are directed at a Blogged user that are personal attacks, will be deleted. Don’t call people idiot or dumb just because they have a different opinion. Try and play nice.

• Don’t harass the Blogged staff. That goes for the Blogged users you see on the site all the time.
• Don’t post Hate Speech.  Hateful speech targeted at a group of people, individual, or organization will not be allowed.
• Don’t post repetitive comments. Don’t comment the same thing on a bunch of different stories in a row.

• Don’t post any private information about yourself or others (i.e. email, phone numbers, etc.) If you want to get in contact with a user, send them a Private Message.
• Don’t discuss issues with the site in the comments. If you are having a problem with your blog or account, contact support@blogged.com
• Don’t encourage others to join in on harassing, trolling or spamming users or the site.
• Don’t abuse the “Start a Discussion” tool. If you want to share a post from your blog, that’s great, but posting 20 in a row is overdoing it. Not only does it spam the Chatter tab, but it turns people off your blog.

Finally, we reserve the right to delete any comment we feel has violated any of these rules.

We would like the discussion of news on Blogged to be enjoyable for everyone.

• Hot Topics shows you the most popular stories being discussed.
• Followed Blogs shows you the latest postings from blogs you have decided to follow. It’s  a great way to read all your favorite blogs all in one place.
• My Blogs shows you the latest postings your your blog (make sure to claim and verify yourself as the author).

Personalize

By adjusting the settings in Personalize, you can control what type of stories appear. So  if you hate reading about Politics and Business and would rather read Entertainment and Sports stories, adjusting the settings will fix this for you.

You’ll see an update whenever a user:

• Starts following your blog
• Rates your blog
• Comments on a blog post (you can even comment right back through the widget)

You can also see all your blog followers and the profile of your blog. It’s a perfect way to stir more conversation and discussion about your Blog!

Check it out. Just go to your Profile tab and under My Blogs, click on Get Widgets.

Managing Email Notifications & Privacy Settings:

When you create an account, notifications are automatically checked. When any activity takes place on your account, you will receive a notification to the email address you submitted. Here, you can select what notifications you would like to receive and  if you don’t want to receive any notifications, just uncheck the box.

You can also chose how private you would like to be on Blogged.  If you just want to read the news and comment on stories and don’t want any followers, you can select Private Profile and no other users will  be able to follow your comments. You can also hide your latest activity and blog posts that appears on your profile.

Profile Picture, Name & Log in:

What you can do:

• You can change your profile picture here as well as the Home tab.
• You can always change the name you want to appear in your comments or profile.
• You can change your password or email address.
• You can write a little about yourself for other to read.

The Settings tab also allows you to remove any blogs you have claimed. Just click on My Blogs (right next to General in the gray bar) and you can remove a claimed blog from your profile.

Just make sure to always click on the big Submit button to save your changes.

Just go to the Chatter tab and on the top right you’ll see the Start a Discussion tool:

You can also add a picture from your computer with your article.  Try it out.

There are two ways users can follow you. They can either follow the comments you make on the stories posted or they can follow postings of your blog.

By default you are following four Blogged staff members just to get you started (you can remove them if you want). You can see the number of followers you and your blog have in the Home tab:

These stats tell you:

• How many people are following your comments
• How many people’s comments you are following
• How many people are following your blog
• How many blogs you are following.

You can always manage your Followers in the Find People tab and the blogs you follow in the Follow Blogs tab.
